Grid Spherical is the lightest helmet you have ever worn. It doesn't matter if you're on ski tours or enjoying the morning groomed slopes – a lightweight helmet will make your turns more enjoyable in any case. But it's not just about weight. The Grid helmet is equipped with Thermostat Control ventilation regulation, comfortable quick-drying Polartec padding, and an intuitive Fidlock magnetic buckle under the chin. The unique Spherical Powered by MIPS technology enhances protection against rotational forces. It works on the principle of a joint – the helmet shell consists of two hemispheres that move over each other like a joint. The outer shell can rotate around the inner shell in the event of an impact, thereby reducing the forces that would otherwise act directly on the head and brain. It is a kind of suspension inside the helmet.

MIPS IS MOVEMENT
ADVANCEMENT IN SKI HELMET DEVELOPMENT
All Giro helmets are designed to absorb as much impact energy as possible and meet the applicable European standard: EN 1077. The goal of the new MIPS technology is to eliminate rotational forces that act on the head in the event of a fall and subsequent impact on the slope. Upon impact at any angle, the MIPS system allows the EPS shell of the helmet to rotate independently around the head. Although this movement is only on the order of a few millimeters, we believe that MIPS technology significantly reduces the amount of rotational force that would otherwise be transferred to the brain.
WHAT IS MIPS (Multidirectional Impact Protection System) and how does it work?
MIPS is a slippery insert between the EPS shell (the body of the helmet) and the inner padding. In the event of an angled impact, the EPS shell of the helmet rotates a few millimeters over the MIPS layer, thereby protecting the head and brain from a sharp rotational jerk.
