Only Giro could create an extremely lightweight helmet that provides full protection for demanding descents. With a weight of only 800 grams (size M), this NTA certified MTB helmet still provides effective protection thanks to Spherical Technology Powered by MIPS. This unique system, developed by the Giro brand in collaboration with MIPS, operates on the principle of a joint – the helmet consists of two parts (hemispheres) that are connected by elastomers and slide over each other just like a joint. Thanks to this, the outer layer can rotate around the inner layer in the event of an impact, thereby reducing the forces that would otherwise act directly on the brain. This design solution completely replaces the classic plastic MIPS insert used by MIPS helmets without Spherical technology. Moreover, there is also the Progressive Layering technology, which consists of two different hardness levels in the outer and inner layers. While the outer layer made of EPS foam is harder and thus prepared to absorb high-speed impacts, the inner layer made of EPP foam is softer and has rebound properties to absorb impacts at lower speeds as much as possible.

The Coalition Spherical helmet can also boast ventilation on par with some road helmets from other brands. It uses massive air intakes at the front along with efficient ventilation openings at the rear. They are interconnected through deep internal channels. Just like with many of our creations, one of the most impressive innovations in the Coalition helmet lies hidden inside: the Halo system connects the chin guard with Pebax material (a material designed to provide the perfect range of flexibility and stiffness) and elastomer pads integrated into the EPS, which absorb and dissipate kinetic forces. The result is a helmet that exceeds the standard certification for chin guard deformation by nearly double. Thanks to the Ionic+ antibacterial linings and two sets of interchangeable cheek pads for a perfect fit, the Coalition Spherical helmet sets a new standard for lightweight full protection without compromising comfort.
