GIRO Owen Spherical Mat
If you're just as comfortable on the slopes as you are off the slopes in the backcountry, then the Owen is for you. The minimalist shape is combined with technological advances such as Spherical Powered by Mips technology. It works on the principle of a joint - the helmet shell consists of two hemispheres that move one after the other like a joint. The outer shell can rotate around the inner shell in the event of an impact, reducing the forces that would otherwise act directly on the head and brain. It's a kind of suspension inside the helmet. The In Form2 clamping system allows you to adjust the height of the helmet in addition to pulling down the wheel. For a completely clean design, we moved the Thermostat Stealth ventilation controls inside the helmet. Under the chin everything is secured by a magnetic Fidlock buckle.

mIPS IS MOVEMENT
aDVANCES IN SKI HELMET DEVELOPMENT
all Giro helmets are designed to absorb as much energy as possible on impact and meet the current European standard: EN 1077. The aim of the new MIPS technology is to eliminate the rotational forces that act on the head in the event of a fall and subsequent impact on the slope. When impacted at any angle, the MIPS system allows the EPS shell of the helmet to rotate independently around the head. Although this movement is only on the order of a few millimeters, we believe that MIPS technology significantly reduces the amount of rotational force that might otherwise be transmitted to the brain.
wHAT IS MIPS (Multidirectional Impact Protection System) and how does it work?
mIPS is a slippery liner between the EPS shell (helmet body) and the inner liners. In the event of an angled impact, the EPS shell of the helmet will roll a few millimetres over the MIPS layer, protecting the head and brain from the violent rotational jerk.
