Description GIRO Owen Spherical
If you feel just as comfortable off-piste in the open terrain as you do on the slopes, then the Owen model is made just for you. The minimalist shape combines with technological features such as Spherical Powered by Mips technology. It operates on the principle of a joint – the helmet shell consists of two hemispheres that move over each other like a joint. The outer shell can rotate around the inner shell in the event of an impact, thereby reducing the forces that would otherwise act directly on the head and brain. It is such a suspension inside the helmet. The In Form2 fit system allows you to adjust the height of the helmet in addition to tightening it with a dial. For an absolutely clean design, we have moved the control of the Thermostat Stealth ventilation inside the helmet. Under the chin, everything is secured by a Fidlock magnetic buckle.

MIPS IS MOVEMENT
ADVANCEMENT IN SKI HELMET DEVELOPMENT
All Giro helmets are designed to absorb as much impact energy as possible and meet the applicable European standard: EN 1077. The goal of the new MIPS technology is to eliminate rotational forces that act on the head in the event of a fall and subsequent impact on the slope. Upon impact at any angle, the MIPS system allows the EPS shell of the helmet to rotate independently around the head. Although this movement is only on the order of a few millimeters, we believe that MIPS technology significantly reduces the amount of rotational force that would otherwise be transferred to the brain.
WHAT IS MIPS (Multidirectional Impact Protection System) and how does it work?
MIPS is a slippery insert between the EPS shell (the body of the helmet) and the inner padding. In the event of an angled impact, the EPS shell of the helmet rotates a few millimeters over the MIPS layer, thereby protecting the head and brain from a sharp rotational jerk.
