Our proprietary design means a slightly less oval ring (10%) with less aggressive timing (112°) than competing versions. Any change in pedal travel is imperceptible to most riders, but they still provide the power and traction benefits inherent in oval gears. It's like having two converters in one! With PowerTrac elliptical derailleurs, the larger diameter part engages the chain at the optimum point of the bottom stroke or "Power Zone" - between 1-5 and 7-11 on the dial - thus taking advantage of the body's natural biomechanical forces: for example, in this part, a PTE 34t derailleur is equivalent to a round 36t derailleur. Similarly, in the "recovery zone" (11-1 and 5-7), a smaller portion of the PTE transducer is engaged to maximize efficiency in the weakest part of the pedal stroke, and here the PTE 34t transducer is equivalent to a 32t circular transducer. The above also provides smoother and more efficient pedal rotation, which means better traction. More stable torque at the rear wheel means less spinning in the "Power Zone", while pedalling is easier during the "Recovery Zone", so you maintain momentum.
